It is no secret that there have been huge advancements in technology over the past decade or two. These have had a major impact on the Laboratory Equipment Landscape in South Africa. Thanks to these technological improvements, lab equipment has become progressively more sophisticated over the years. And no, we are not just referring to trends in robotics and AI. Vivid Air is fast becoming a leading laboratory equipment supplier in South Africa and beyond, providing users with unmatched accuracy and reliability. Let’s take a closer look at how Vivid Air is revolutionising the landscape of laboratory equipment in South Africa.
It is imperative that we keep in mind that the role of technology has become essential to the laboratory equipment landscape in South Africa. Using modern equipment is not only extremely beneficial to businesses, but the use of automation has also resulted in less room for errors, and allows for a wider variety of tests to be performed at the same time. In addition to benefiting businesses in their day-to-day operations, one of the biggest perks of automation is the reduction of labour costs, as well as reducing the risk of making costly mistakes that result from human error.
At Vivid Air we are committed to staying up to speed with the latest technological trends, to ensure that we offer our clients only the best technology solutions to ensure that all of our clients’ research and development needs are met with state of the art laboratory equipment, and accurate and reliable lab automation.
As a matter of fact, one of the several products we offer is the VA 6000 series Fume Extraction Cabinet. The VA 6000 series is intended to protect the room from harmful odours by means of an air barrier method in which the system ensures optimal inward air flow along the work surface. The device’s frontal air barrier creates an air barrier which prevents an exchange between the internal contaminated air and the outside.
The fume extraction cabinet itself is a high quality and space saving installation that is well designed and particularly suited to the following applications:
- handling high concentrations of a variety of acids and acid digestions
- presence of high fume materials
- presence of agents with toxic contents
The entire unit comprises a clamping grid, a laboratory gas tap and spout, an electric control cabinet and an acid storage cabinet. Each unit features carbon steel outer panels with an epoxy powder coating, a fibreglass work chamber infused with white gelcoat with radiused angles and corners, and a manual sash with a 75-400mm opening, made from toughened safety glass or polycarbonate, with a sliding function to enable the easy passage of larger items. There are also LED lighting tubes that can be found outside the work area on top, and a control panel on the front panels of the unit. There are four models to choose from in the VA 6000 series, each one varying in work chamber size, length, height, and depth.
Our Vivid Air Fume Extraction Cabinets can also be customised with a variety of optional extras, including (but nor limited to) the following:
- Collapsible stand with adjustable feet
- Vulcathene drip cup located in the work surface below the waterspout
- Clamping grid bolted to inner baffle plate
- Removable tray to protect the work surface
- External dry wet scrubbers
- External dry scrubbers
Vivid Air can proudly boast that the Vivid Air 6000 Series is manufactured right here in South Africa. That means that we are prepared and capable – there is a shorter wait time for delivery and installation, as well as no exorbitant shipping fees. And what’s more – in the unlikely event of a Fume Extraction Cabinet malfunction, we carry all the parts that are necessary to minimise the downtime of the product. And better still, other industry specialists that import equipment with specialised electronic control and automation lack the after-sale service and support that Vivid Air is able to offer on our locally manufactured products.
On that note, at Vivid Air we also have our very own Validation Division to carry out various testing services that include, but are not limited to, cleanroom and cabinet validations, installation qualification, operational qualification, production qualification, and design qualification. The validation team provides testing services in accordance with ISO 14644 international cleanroom standards. The staff in this department are internationally accredited and have received extensive training. They have been theoretically and practically trained through accredited organisations such as Air Techniques International and Cleanroom Testing Certification Board International, and they have also received sufficient practical in-house and supervised field training.
These are just a few examples of the many ways in which Vivid Air stays on trend to seamlessly facilitate our customers’ research and development processes. We offer quality products and services, guarantee quality assurance and customer satisfaction, and overall, we’re just playing our part in changing the laboratory equipment landscape in South Africa.
