Class II Biohazard Safety Cabinets and handling COVID-19

Class II Biohazard Safety Cabinets are essential in handling COVID-19 samples in the laboratory

While the world is facing unprecedented challenges with the Coronavirus 2019 pandemic (COVID-19) we at Vivid Air will continue to play a critical role.

We are currently providing many laboratory testing facilities with crucial clean air solutions, such as:

  • Class II Biohazard Safety Cabinets, supply and installation
  • Ultra HEPA filtration ventilation units for both positive and negative pressurisation applications

In addition, Vivid Air validate these units with calibrated test equipment by certificated technicians trained to international standards.

The CDC (Centres for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organisation)  recommend that Class II Biohazard Safety Cabinets (BSCs) be utilised any time a laboratory procedure has the potential to generate aerosols or droplets as result of vortexing, pipetting, centrifugation, or other testing techniques.

This is especially important to protect medical personnel from risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2.

Class II BSCs are an ideal choice for handling COVID-19 samples because they provide 3 levels of contamination protection: personnel protection (the user), product protection (the sample), and environmental protection (the laboratory). In addition ISO 5 HEPA filtered laminar airflow is recommended.
